RRW had great inaugural year culminating with sending a cohort to the first annual Iowa Girls State Wrestling Championships!

The RRW Youth club and the Grand View Women’s program will collaborate to prepare our wrestlers to become hardworking, resilient, and confident athletes who understand the basics of wrestling and body control. Grand View, and RRW coaching staff/athletes will assist in running practices.

James Biscoglia
Head Coach
James coached at Waukee from 2006 until 2020. During this time Waukee had 45 state qualifiers, 8 state finalist, and 4 state champions. In 2018 Waukee finished second in Iowa and was nationally ranked in Intermat Wrestling’s top 50. The 2018 coaching staff was awarded coaching staff of the year by the Iowa Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association. From 2020 until 2022 he coached at Van Meter High School.
Joe Burch
Assistant Coach
Joe Burch, a standout wrestler for Pella, wrestled for Central College until injury sidelined his NCAA career. He subsequently became an assistant coach at Pella High School while still at Central College. In 2007 he was promoted to Pella High School’s head coach where he coached for nine years. Joe then moved to Waukee where he began to work with girls at Waukee and later at both Waukee and Northwest. Joe currently teaches Physical Education within the Waukee School District.
Ryan Leisure
Assistant Coach
A 2015 high school state finalist for Union-La Porte, Derek just completed a successful collegiate career as a UNI Panther as a TWO-time NCAA Qualifier. During the 2023-24 season Derek defeated four top-10 opponents in 2023 including a win over the #9 ranked Michigan wrestler in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Derek’s twin sister, Kaitlyn, was a standout AAU wrestler and was one of the youth pioneers that paved the way for sanctioning.
Andrew Snyder
Head Middle School Coach/Asst. High School Coach
A 2019 3A state champion for Waverly-Shellrock, first year teacher Andrew Snyder is no stranger to coaching girls wrestling. Before even graduating from UNI, Andrew was already coaching in the girls high school and middle school program for State Champions Waverly Shellrock where he coached his sister to the state finals last year.
Nikki Haines
Middle School/High School Asst. Coach
Nikki comes with a wealth of coaching experience as a middle school track coach. Nikki was a multisport athlete for Red Oak before going to Iowa State. She has been involved in Waukee athletics since becoming a teacher her in Waukee.
